π What does "market size" mean here?
Market size = annual global revenue captured by companies operating with this business model.
In plain English: it's how much money people and businesses worldwide pay every year to all companies using that model. Example β SaaS $300B/yr means: globally, customers pay ~$300 billion every year to all SaaS companies combined (Salesforce + Adobe + Notion + every indie SaaS).
So yes β the $X B answers "how much is spent on this category". From the company's perspective it's revenue captured; from the customer's perspective it's spend; the two are the same dollar.
Numbers are NOT additive to global GDP. The same dollar can pass through multiple models β e.g. a SaaS sold via affiliate counts in both SaaS revenue and Affiliate commissions. The 25 models overlap by design.
Marketplace and Platform have a special note β for those, two metrics matter: the "take rate revenue" (what the platform keeps) vs. the "GMV" (total spend flowing through). Drawer shows both.
Some models are subsets of others. Vertical SaaS β SaaS, Web App often β SaaS, Productized Service β Agency. They're listed separately because the strategy/positioning differs, not because the dollars don't overlap.
Numbers are best-effort estimates from training data (knowledge cutoff Jan 2026). Use the "verify live" pills in each drawer to check current figures from Statista, Latka, CB Insights, etc. before making decisions.
